We are in Gardiner NY at the base of the gunks. Do you have a retail store in Gardiner? No we don't have a store, but we offer all of our products online. Click on the "Shop Online" button in the menu to buy our products, or click on the "Store Locator" button to find a store near you that carries our products. Is your company publicly traded? No, we haven't sold out! We're still privately owned and operated by the original founders, Bob Macleod and Steve Byckiewicz. Do you test on animals? Since our humble beginnings on an organic farm in upstate New York, Kiss My Face has not used ingredients that were tested on animals nor tested our finished products on animals. In November 1996, Steve Byckiewicz and Bob MacLeod (the KISS founders) along with 11 other cosmetics companies participated in a press conference in New York City that launched the Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals (CSCA). The standard was created by The Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) which consists of 9 animal protection associations - American Antivivisection Society, American Humane Association, Animal Protection Institute, Beauty without Cruelty, Doris Day Animal League, Humane Society of the U.S., In Defense of Animals, New England Antivivisection Society, and PETA. According to their brochure, it is the most rigorous standard for companies to pledge their commitment to no animal testing. By using time-tested ingredients (ones with an established history of safety), diligently reviewing raw material information, and utilizing human volunteers in clinical safety trials, no company need ever test on animals again! Do you sponsor or donate to non-profit organizations and how would I submit my request? We certainly appreciate the efforts of the many non-profit organizations in our country and would love to support all of them. We're always tweaking our product line to bring you the best products that nature has to offer. Occasionally we do discontinue products to make room for exciting new ones. Please know that it is never an easy decision to eliminate a product. This refers to the use of ingredients that can clog pores and cause breakouts. We do not use ingredients that are typically comedogenic like mineral oil, petrolatum, synthetic colors etc. What products are appropriate for vegans? None of our products are tested on animals and nearly all are made without animal ingredients. What products are appropriate for me? Below is a list of products that do not contain gluten ingredients. However if you have a severe gluten intolerance, please know that we cannot guarantee a lack of cross contamination, as we produce our products in manufacturing facilities where products with gluten are also produced. We print a lot # on every product that determines the production date. It usually begins with a K followed by 6 numbers, which are a date in a month, day and year format. Generally, our products have a 3 year plus shelf life. Where are your products made? With the exception of our toothpaste which is made in Italy and our Olive Oil Soap that comes from Greece, all of our products are made in the U.S. What is Titanium Dioxide and is it okay to use on children? Titanium Dioxide is a physical block. It is a mineral and is inert; thus does not cause a reaction or breakout. Titanium Dioxide ... in a super fine powder ... provides a physical sun block and works by blocking and scattering sunlight rather than absorbing it as the chemical sun screens do. It is safe to use on children. Minimum suggested age for usage is 6 months. For children younger than 6 months, parents should seek a doctor's opinion. How long will the sunscreen last? The chemical sun blocks we use in our SPF 30 sun screen (and other products) begin to oxidize and breakdown as soon as they are exposed to air. Unopened bottles have a longer shelf life of 3-5 years. Once opened, the shelf life is reduced considerably. We recommend using a new, unopened bottle each season What does Saponification mean? “Saponification” is the term used for the actual soap-making process. Fat, which in this case is olive oil, needs a catalyst to be made into soap. We use Sodium Hydroxide as the catalyst which converts the oils into soap. Is Olive Oil Soap totally natural? Olive Oil soap is natural, containing no artificial colors and is derived from the saponification of olive oil soap stock using high quality but traditional saponification procedures. As it is well known, the color and odor of pure olive oil varies from harvest to harvest where olive oil trees grow. For this specific reason, it is not possible to have consistency of color and odor of the raw material from which this natural product is derived. Do Kiss My Face deodorants contain any aluminum or any form or derivative of aluminum? We use the naturally occurring mineral Potassium Alum in our deodorants. Although this natural mineral does contain the element Aluminum, it is not in a form that is absorbable by the human body. Most chemical aluminum compounds are in a form that allows the aluminum to become free as a positively charged particle. Potassium alum molecules have a negative ionic charge, making it unable to pass through the cell wall. THEY ARE NOT ABSORBED. Alum and Aluminum are two different substances, with distinct chemical signatures. They possess different chemical properties which create different chemical attributes. What are “phthalates” and does Kiss My Face use them? Phthalates are a large group of chemical compounds used in the production of plastics, household articles, packages, cosmetics, and plant pesticides. None are used in the Kiss My Face products. back to top Questions About Our Ingredients What does the word “fragrance” on your label mean? Fragrance can refer to essential oils, synthetic fragrances or natural fragrances. When properly listed, essential oils are called “fragrance”. We primarily use essential oils only. In some of our original products, we use synthetic fragrances or a combination of the two. Do your products contain synthetic colors? No, we do not use any synthetic colors in our products.
